Vijaypal said, “The death of Kumar by suicide is not just a personal tragedy but a sign of systemic failure. An impartial investigation should be carried out and action must be taken against the officers named in the note left by the IPS officer. Conspiracies against the Scheduled Castes will no longer be tolerated.”

General secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh said, “We are not here merely to pay tribute. This is a message that injustice and harassment will no longer be tolerated. Strict action must be taken against the guilty. The administration and the government must now take responsibility.”

Other leaders who participated in the march included PP Ghai, Yogesh Dhingra, Premlata, Hardeep, Manour, Jaswinder Kaur Anju Katyal, Ramchandra Yadav, Shadab Rathi, Harjinder Bawa and Vikrant A Tanwar.

Bansal slams govt

Former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has stated that five days have passed but the government has not taken any worthwhile step to address the anguish of late IPS officer’s wife, Amneet P Kumar, herself a senior IAS officer, and his children.

“The incident of suicide by an IG-level Dalit officer has left everyone deeply shocked and the government must act with compassion and urgency. Amneet’s demands deserve to be met so that the bereaved family can perform the IPS officer’s last rites,” said Bansal.
