AAP Chandigarh president Vijaypal Singh said that the BJP government was systematically weakening democratic institutions across the country. He added that the government’s move to tighten control over autonomous educational bodies was a blow to academic freedom and institutional transparency, which will ultimately affect the quality of education, research and governance in the university.

He stated, “The Senate is the soul of the university representing teachers, students, and academic experts. By dissolving it, the BJP has dismantled the democratic framework of higher education. The government now wants to impose decisions at will and bring education under political control.”

The Aam Aadmi Party emphasised that the attempt to forcibly control PU was a conspiracy to weaken India’s education system, which would have long-term negative impacts on future generations and research culture.
