A court has dismissed the bail application of an accused, Ritik Sharma, facing charges under Sections 376 (rape) of the IPC and Section 6 (sexual assault on child) of the POCSO Act, 2012.

The police had arrested the suspect after registering a case against him

on a complaint of the victim’s father in February this year.

The counsel for the accused claimed that the accused was falsely implicated in the case. He also argued that the victim had been examined, who had not supported the case of prosecution.

The public prosecutor opposed the bail application stating that the allegations against the petitioner-accused were grave in nature. The public prosecutor argued that the investigating agency had investigated the matter and zero FIR was registered on a complaint of the victim’s father.

After hearing the arguments, the court denied the bail to the accused, saying that the allegations against the petitioner-accused were grave in nature.
