Acid attack survivor honoured

Members of the National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India, Chandigarh, under the leadership of Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, have honoured acid attack survivor Kafi from the Institute of Blind, Sector 26, who topped the Class XII examinations by scoring 95.6 per cent marks.

In recognition of her remarkable achievement, Kafi, along with her parents, was presented with a cash award of Rs 11,000 and an additional amount of Rs 5,000 to purchase books to support her aspirations of preparing for the IAS. On this occasion, Suparna Sachdev, honourary secretary of the Society for the Care of the Blind, Sector 26, and Rakesh Sharma, principal, Institute for the Blind, were also present. Both praised council’s efforts and lauded Kafi’s determination and courage.
