Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia said the rates of crushers and retailers had been fixed in three zones, including Mubarakpur, Handesra and Majri. “Any panchayat has to go to the BDPO concerned for its development work. Sand can be obtained from any mining site absolutely free of cost after getting certified by the government,” she added.

Officials said after the new mining policy was announced, any customer could purchase sand/gravel directly from mining sites at Rs5.50 per cubic foot. “If any customer is charged more than mentioned rates, he can lodge a complaint at 0172-2219505,” they added. —TNS
