Aditi Singh stormed into girls’ U-18 quarterfinals by defeating Sia Mahajan 8-4 on the opening day of the Roots-AITA Challenge Series (III) U-18 National Ranking Championship at Zirakpur here today.

Second seed Radhika Vasudeva defeated Krittika Katoch 8-2, whereas Riya Kaushik blanked Saanvi 8-1. Third seed Vanya Arora overpowered Snigdha without conceding a single game 8-0 and Sidhak Kaur defeated Akshita Vashisht 8-2. Mehakpreet Kaur overpowered Ananya Dogra 8-5 and Khushleen Kaur ousted Soumya Hooda 8-3 for quarterfinals.

In the boys’ U-18 pre-quarterfinals, top seed Sarthak Gandhi ousted Yash Solanky 8-1. Third seed Karan Shandilya defeated Parmarth Kaushik 8-2, while fourth seed Aryan Thakur defeated Sankalp Nair 8-1. Aryan Arora also marched by defeating Rishi Dahiya 8-1 and Agnivesh Bharadwaj also registered an identical 8-1 win over Dhairya Chadha. In last three matches, Upnishad Bharadwaj defeated Rakshit Dhankar 8-5 whereas Aditya Chauhan ousted Aarush Sharma and Lakshya Gupta outplayed Mohit by identical scores of 8-2.
