After excelling in sports, students shine off the field too

Local sportspersons have shone off the field as well with excellent performance in the CBSE Class X and XII examinations.

Bhavika Thakur, a student of Shishu Niketan Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, scored 95.6 per cent marks in Class X. She has won multiple gold medals in fencing at the national level, a bronze at the Asian Fencing Open Championship and participated in the prestigious Youth Olympics. She bagged gold in the International Declamation Competition held in Kuwait.

Bhavan Vidyalaya’s Siddhi Vashisht, a state inter-school silver medallist in table tennis, scored 96.6 percent marks in Class X. A silver winner in national roller hockey, Aadya Chopra has scored 96 per cent. Samarth Grover, who secured 95.2 per cent, represented Haryana in the national meet, while state taekwondo silver medallist Arnav Kaushik scored 94 percent. National taekwondo gold medallist, Tarushi Gaur scored 93.6 per cent and national tennis player, Ira Chadha bagged 81.2 per cent marks. Director-cum-senior principal Vineeta Arora congratulated the achievers.

In class XII, Aariv Jain, who represented India in roller hockey, scored 87.6 per cent in commerce, while Adhiraj Shaunak, who has represented India at World Skates Games in Italy, scored 82%. State silver medallist, Krish scored 94.2% in commerce, while national shooter Shaurya Raghav scored 91.2 per cent.

National-level tennis player, Paras Mahajan of Delhi Public School, Sector 40, scored 96.8 per cent in the Class 10 examinations and shooter Risham Kaur Guron bagged 84 per cent in humanities. Alizee of Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22, scored 98.8 per cent in Class X. She was declared the NCC Best Cadet also won the prestigious Best Cadet title at the NCC Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC). A state level baseball medallist from St Anne’s School, Sector 32, Rayansh Sharma scored 97.2 per cent in Class X, while state-level cricketer Harnoor Singh Nanda, a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, scored 94 per cent in commerce. National-level netball player, Rashi of Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, scored 97.2 per cent in Class XII (with 100 per cent score in psychology), while national-level cager and NCC medal achiever, Mishthi Garg scored 94 per cent in commerce. State-level shooter Jayeeta posted 89.4 per cent in commerce and international wushu player Himanshi Malik bagged 88.4 per cent in the same stream. International squash player Savir Sood scored a 98.6 per cent in Class X and national-level cager Apaar Sood secured 97.2 per cent.

Suhani Sharma, Head Girl, DPS, has scored 96.2 per cent marks in Class XII. She received full-ride scholarship offers from world-renowned institutions including Harvard, Yale, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Rice University and the UBC, and was chosen to join Harvard University. Siddharth Goel, son of Justice Sumeet Goel, topped the humanities stream in St John’s School, Sector 26, with 93.6 per cent, while Samaira Sood of Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, topped with 96 per cent in the Class X examination. As many as 32 students of The Gurukul, Zirakpur, scored above 90 per cent in Class X. Arshia Sharma of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, scored 95.2 per cent marks in Class X. Swdha Gupta from Gurukul Global School, Sector 13, topped the non-medical stream in the school with 97.6 per cent. Eighteen students of Manav Mangal School, Panchkula, posted above 95 per cent marks in the Class XII exams.

Tanmay Aggarwal topped the Chitkara School with 97 per cent. He has won several medals in both basketball and chess. Jiyaa Gupta and Aahan Gupta scored 96.4 per cent each with their achievements in Olympiads and sports. In class XII, state chess medallist Suriyaa KR emerged as the stream topper with 95 percent, and national level fencer Anushka Sahrawat led with 88 percent in non-medical.

Anchal of Sacred Heart School has scored 91.9% marks in Class X.

Beating the odds

Anchal of Sacred Heart School has scored 91.9% marks in Class X. The daughter of a daily wager, she is a state gold medallist in baseball and softball. She was also awarded a scholarship for being the best NCC cadet. A national roller-skater, Garvita Kakar scored 90.8 per cent, while state netball player Sukoon Thour bagged 96.4 per cent marks. Two students of St Anne’s School, Sector 32, scored 99.4 per cent to top their school.
