Mohali: The police have registered 25 cases against those found bursting crackers beyond the permissible limit — 8 pm to 10 pm — on Diwali. SSP Satinder Singh said the cases were registered under Section188 (disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code. Pertinently, not a single case for the offence was registered in the district on Diwali last year. —TNS
