India’s Akanksha Dileep Nitture stunned top seed Karina Rizvanova of Kazakhstan to move into the girls’ U-18 main draw on the second day of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors (Grade-III) at Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (Sector 10) here today.

Akanksha logged a 6-2 6-0 victory over Karina in a one-sided match. Second seed Kanika Sivaraman ousted Kavya Khriwar 6-2 6-2, while third seed L Vishwanath also moved ahead by defeating Hannah Nagpal 6-0 6-2. Unseeded Harleen Kaur Dhanda defeated sixth seed Anjali Maheshkumar 6-2 6-4 in the last qualifying match of the category.

In the boys’ U-18 final qualifying round, top seed Arnav Pathange easily outplayed sixth seed Heerak Vohra 6-2 6-0. Second seed Sushant Dabas also marched ahead by registering a comfortable 7-6(4) 6-2 victory over seventh seed Aman Dahiya. Kazakhstan’s third seed Nikita Sidorov faced some resistance before registering a 6-4 4-6 (10-6) win over Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje. Fourth seed Karan Singh also won a tough tie against Yuvan Nandal 5-7 6-3 (10-5). The main draw matches will start from Monday.
