Mohali MC Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh Sandhu said the revenue from the property tax this time was three-fold more than the previous year’s collection.

Dr Sanjeev Kamboj, Medical Officer of Health and in-charge of the Property Tax Branch of MC, said the MC staff worked till midnight for the last two days to ensure timely processing of dues. Their dedication played a pivotal role in making the campaign a success, he added.

All big commercial property owners in Mohali came forward to settle their dues, a strong response to the government’s amnesty initiative.

Zirakpur Municipal Council Executive Officer Jagjeet Singh said, “The civic body will initiate a door-to-door campaign, besides taking action against defaulters.”

The Urban Local Bodies of the district had collected a record Rs 1,143.49 lakh in property tax in 19 days.

Under the OTS scheme, residents with unpaid or partially paid property tax till March 31, 2025, were able to avail full waiver on penalty and interest if they cleared the principal amount in full by July 31. If the dues are paid between August 1 and October 31, 50% of the penalty and interest will be waived. After October 31, full penalty and interest, as applicable, will be charged.
