Anganwadi workers protest over increments, promotions in Fatehgarh Sahib
The state anganwadi workers union staged a protest in front of the DC office against the lack of basic amenities and promotion for the workers and delay in release of gratuity and increments.
Addressing the dharna, Harjit Kaur Panjola, union president, said there was great resentment among the anganwadi workers against both the central and state governments over their “harassment”.
Panjola also announced the workers’ decision to boycott the central government’s Poshan Abhiyan Yojana as they are being asked to take KYC (Know Your Customer)a nd upload Face IDs to give 300 gm food grain to the children of poor families. She said that they would not do any work from their personal cell phones until laptops and internet services are provided to them. She also rued the lack of promotions.
The union president said the gratuity and increment-related demands have not been met, adding that if the state government did not act, they will gherao the MLAs when during their visits to the villages.
