Skipper Ankit Kaushik’s unbeaten century helped the Leisure Zone to a formidable total of 354 runs at Day 1 play of the UTCA Men’s Senior Multi-Day Tournament.

Opting to bat first, Leisure Zone got off to a solid start with opener Gurneet Singh posting 85. And, later, Kaushik posting an unbeaten 102 off 89 balls. Dipin Dahiya (3/16) was the pick of the bowlers for the bowling side. Sukhna Zone were 33 without loss at the draw of the stumps.

In the second match, Plaza Zone struggled against a disciplined Rose Zone bowling and were out for 194. Nehal Pajni fought a lone battle by scoring 88, while Hardik Chowdhary (3/33) and Ankit Kumar (3/45) shared six wickets. In reply, Rose Zone ended the day comfortably placed at 83/1.

Meanwhile, in the women’s match, Rose Zone registered a commanding 48-run victory over Rock Zone. Batting first, Rose Zone posted 124. Shivangi Yadav top-scored with 33. In reply, Rock Zone were bundled out for 76 against the match-winning spell from Shivali Rathore, who claimed 4/16.
