Another factory fire in Panchkula

A fire broke out at RR Gears Private Limited in Industrial Area, Phase I, here this afternoon.

Three fire tenders — two from Sector 5 Fire Station and one from Sector 20 — were rushed to the spot.

According to initial reports, the fire is believed to have originated in a kneading tank. Sources said the lid of the tank was left open, which might have led to the fire.

The fire brigade was alerted around 3:45 pm. The firefighting operations, led by Leading Fireman Virender Singh, lasted around one and a half hours. All workers were safely evacuated from the premises. The factory owner estimated the loss at about Rs 8 lakh.

This was the second fire incident in an industrial unit here this week. A major fire was reported at an ink factory in Industrial Area, Phase II, on Monday. — TNS
