Four armed individuals attempted to rob a shop in Madanpur village at Sector 26 in the late evening on Thursday.

When the shopkeepers of the area gathered at the site, the four fired gunshots in the air and fled the scene. Gurinderpal Singh, a resident of Dera Bassi here said that he runs a jewellery shop at Sector 26. He said on Thursday, at around 8.30 pm, four armed individuals reached his shop and fired gunshots at him in an attempt to rob his shop.

Third such incident in P’kula in a month

  • The armed robbery at Sector 26 Panchkula on Thursday was the third such incident in the city.
  • Three days ago, on February 12 (Monday), individuals posing as home delivery agents targeted a house in Sector 4. They were carrying a large knife to scare the residents of the house, but fled after the residents raised an alarm.
  • On January 8, an elderly couple, residents of Sector 20 here, was taken hostage, and their house was burgled by two masked men.

He said, “All the four individuals were carrying weapons. One of them fired a gunshot at me, after which I raised the alarm of my shop. As the shopkeepers in the area gathered around my shop, the The four individuals ran out of the shop and fired a couple of gunshots in the air while trying to flee..”

A case has been registered against the unidentified individuals under Section 393 (robbery) of the IPC and sections of the Arms Act.
