Mohali, December 18

Arshan Khan of the hosts, Chandigarh University, Gharuan, won the gold medal in the 90kg weight category during the All India Inter-University Best Physique Championship today.

B Ravi Kumar of Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, claimed the silver, while Ananthu VR of Calicut University, Kerala, bagged the bronze medal.

Khan will now represent India at the Asian Best Physique Championship, scheduled to be held at Singapore in March 2020.

Krishna Kadam of Savitribai Phule Pune University topped the podium in the 90kg contest. He was followed by Mohammed Araf of Kerala University and Rohit Pramod of Rani Channamma University, Karnataka, in second and third places, respectively.

Lovepreet, Prakash triumph

In the All India Inter-University Weightlifting Championship, Lovepreet Singh of Punjabi University, Patiala, won the gold medal in the 73kg competition with an effort of 263kg (snatch 115kg clean & jerk 148kg).

Kalpesh Mahajan of Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, lifted a total of 259kg (snatch 110kg clean & jerk 149kg) to claim the silver medal, while Manoj Kumar Sahu of Behrampur University, Odisha, won the bronze with a total of 258kg (snatch 110kg clean & jerk 148kg).

Prakash Shiva of Mangalore University lifted a total of 302kg (snatch 134 kg clean & jerk 168kg) to win the gold medal in the 81kg category.

Raghveer Singh of Chandigarh University won the silver medal with an effort of 296kg (snatch 129kg clean & jerk 167kg), while V Arun Pandiyan of Thiruvalluvar University, Tamil Nadu, lifted a total of 291kg (snatch 131kg clean & jerk 160kg) to clinch the bronze medal.
