Local lad and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made his India debut during the first T20 against England in Southampton this evening. The Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma handed over him the cap.

Arshdeep, a well-known player in the Chandigarh and Mohali cricket fraternity, had impressed everyone in this edition of the IPL while playing for Punjab Kings.

Arshdeep, whose family lives in Kharar, was selected in the Indian cricket team for the T20 home series against South Africa. However, he remained on benches through the series. He was retained for the ongoing England series.
