The Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, has raised concerns over the safety of shoppers and shopkeepers in view of a heavy footfall expected during the Diwali festival.

Association president Kamaljit Singh Panchhi has urged the Punjab Governor and UT Administrator to direct the MC Commissioner and Health Services Director for deploying a mini fire tender and mini ambulance permanently at the Plaza, during the Diwali days. Panchhi emphasised that such an arrangement is vital to ensure a quick response in case of fire or medical emergencies, as congested parking areas often delay the movement of regular fire tenders.
