Auto driver’s son tops Panchkula in Class X Haryana Board exam

As he scored 100 in mathematics, 99 in science and 92 in IT, Chandan’s next goal is to land an IIT seat

Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 19, student Chandan Kumar secured the top position in the district by scoring 485 marks out of 500 (97 per cent) in the Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) exam, results for which were declared today.

Swearing by self-study, Chandan believes in giving small targets to himself. Taking things one at a time, he said helped him study thoroughly and complete the entire syllabus.

As he scored 100 in mathematics, 99 in science and 92 in IT, Chandan’s next goal is to land an IIT seat.

Chandan also secured the ninth rank in Haryana Super 100. The government will support his Class 11 and 12 education under the Pratibha Khoj project.

“I am excited to pack my bags and live at Super 100 campus in Kurukshetra starting May 25 to further study to achieve all my goals in life and make my parents proud,” he said.

His father, Avadh Kishor, expressed pride in his son’s success and said that Chandan’s discipline and commitment to studies never faltered.

As the website was running slow many students struggled to get their results. Chandan too was oblivious to the fact that he was the district topper early.

The second position was secured by Simran from GMSSS, Paploha, with a score of 95.8 per cent (479 marks), while the third rank was bagged by Mehala from GMSSS, Mallaha, who scored 94 per cent (470 marks).

Students of Panchkula district helped secure 94 per cent pass percentage for Class X. In total, 4,535 students appeared for the exam, of which 4,249 students passed, while 258 were placed in the compartment category. Only 28 students were marked as non-qualified.
