On the call of UFBU (United Forum of Bank Unions), a sit-in demonstration was organised in front of the Bank of India, Bank Square, Sector 17.

All members of the tricity, who are affiliated to the UFBU, participated in this demonstration today.

On this occasion, Deepak Sharma, general secretary, the State Bank of India Officers Association, in his address to protesters informed that different demands had been made by bank unions from time to time.

The demands, include start of five-day banking, updation of pension, scrapping of NPS, restoration of the DA-linked pension scheme, resolving pending issues and increase in pay revision in the CSB Bank (Catholic Syrian Bank) and the DBS Bank (LVB).

Sanjay Sharma, coordinator, UFBU, said, if their demands were not accepted, then there would be a nationwide strike on June 27 by all bank unions.
