Beopar Mandal flays UT’s ‘anti-trader’ policies

The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) condemned the Chandigarh Administration’s alleged anti-trader policies at the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today.

The participants expressed their disappointment and concern over the lack of support and initiatives for traders, urging the Administration to work in the best interests of the trading fraternity.

It was stated that the Mandal will soon have its own Beopar Bhawan, which will serve as a hub for trader welfare activities and a symbol of the organisation’s strength.

The AGM also marked the induction of nine new trader leaders, representing prominent associations of Chandigarh, into the 376-strong member body.

Sanjiv Chadha, president, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, said he had held over five meetings with the UT Administrator to address pressing trader concerns, including property tax, one-time settlement of VAT cases and infrastructure development.

Charanjiv Singh, chairman of the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, was also honoured on his nomination as a member of the National Trader Welfare Board by the Commerce Ministry, Government of India.

Singh said the recognition was an honour not just to him, but for the entire Chandigarh Beopar Mandal.
