The police have arrested Guriqbalmeet Singh, alias Robin, a resident of Tarn Taran, and recovered two pistols, 42 live rounds, six magazines, a mobile phone dongle with a SIM-card and an SUV from his possession. The police said Robin, who was arrested from Bikaner, was working as an operative for the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and has been involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition through drones. The police said that he has also been involved in extortion calls with an accomplice.

Addressing mediapersons, Mohali SSP Dr Sandeep Garg said, “Robin was already wanted in a separate case before he came in contact with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria in jail in 2023. After this, he came out on bail and started operating the gang. He was staying in a rented accommodation in Sector 115, Kharar, with Jagmeet Singh from Gurdaspur, alias Jaggi, and Gurmehar Singh from Tarn Taran. Robin was operating an extortion gang with two.”

DSP (Special Cell) Gursher Singh Sandhu said, “Robin was in touch with a Portugal-based gangster, Nishan, who also operates the Bhagwanpuria gang. Jagmeet was arrested by the Batala police recently. He would be brought here on a production warrant for further investigation, and Gurmehar is absconding.”
