At stumps, the hosts reached 384/8 in 106 overs on Day 2 after resuming from their overnight score of 64/1.
Bhatia scored 116 studded with 14 boundaries and three sixes, anchoring the innings through crucial middle-order partnerships. His 141-run stand with Venkatesh Iyer (65 off 93 balls) proved to be the turning point of the day, helping Madhya Pradesh recover from early setbacks at 80/4. Later, contributions from Aryan Pandey (40) and Mohammed Arshad Khan (39) further consolidated the total. Jagjit Singh Sandhu (5/69) was the standout performer for the bowling side by claiming an impressive five wicket haul. Vishu supported well with 2/80 while Raj Angad Bawa picked up 1/73.
Mridul’s ton puts HP in strong position
Skipper Mridul P Surroch led from the front with a brilliant unbeaten century as Himachal Pradesh finished Day 1 in a commanding position at 286/5 against Chandigarh in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy Elite (U-23) match being played at the Luhnu Cricket Ground, Bilaspur. Batting first, Chandigarh reduced the hosts to 94/4, but Surroch steadied the innings with a composed knock of 130 not out. Mridul found valuable support from Deep Singh, who remained unbeaten on 40 off 111 balls. The duo stitched together a crucial 116-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
