A 36-year-old biker died while his father sustained serious injuries when a vehicle hit them from behind near Chadiala village in Dera Bassi around 7 pm on Saturday.

Pintu and his father Raj Kumar, both residents of Baroli village, were returning home on a bike when an unidentified vehicle hit them and fled the spot. Village residents rushed them to the GMCH-32 where doctors declared Pintu dead. His father was admitted to the hospital.

The deceased is survived by his wife and two children. The police handed over the body to his kin after post-mortem. A case of hit-and-run has been registered.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
