In a statement, police said they received a call at around 3.30 am reporting a loud noise near SCO No. 23, in Sector 26. Police have recorded broken jute rope pieces from the crime scene.

Meanwhile, a Facebook post from an account under the name gangster Goldy Brar went viral later in the day, claiming responsibility for the club attacks.

The post alleged that Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, were behind the incident.

The purported post alleged that the club owners were previously approached for protection money but they ignored the demands, leading to the blasts. The post also mentioned two other names, Varinder Charan and Randeep Mallik.

CFSL team was called on the spot and further investigation is underway.

In September, the residence of a retired police officer in the posh area of Chandigarh's Sector 10, saw a low-intensity explosion.

The grenade attack took place at around 5.30 pm on September 11 and due to the impact of the blast, windows and flower pots were damaged. Punjab Police had arrested two accused in a joint operation with central agencies. They claimed that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia masterminded the operation.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav had then said the arrested man was Rohan Masih, a resident of Passia village in Amritsar. In a statement, he said police recovered a sophisticated 9 mm Glock pistol along with ammunition from his possession.
