The blood bank at the Civil Hospital here has achieved another milestone with the setting up of a blood component separation unit.

Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Haryana, inaugurated the unit, which would provide packed red blood cell (PRBC), platelet concentrate (PC), fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and cryoprecipitate.

Earlier, patients from the district used to go to the GMCH-32 or the PGI in Chandigarh for obtaining these components. These will be available free of cost for patients admitted to government hospitals of Haryana. The component price per unit fixed by the state government for other patients is packed red blood cell at Rs1,050, platelet concentrate at Rs300, fresh frozen plasma at Rs300 and cryoprecipitate at Rs200.
