Blood donation camp held to mark World Physiotherapy Day at PGI

Physiotherapists focus on healthy ageing

Marking World Physiotherapy Day 2025, a mega blood donation camp was organised at PGIMER under Mission Jeevan Rekha by Navya Bharat Foundation (NBF Bharat) and the Student Association of Physical Therapy (SAPT), in collaboration with Khel Bharti Chandigarh and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER.

The camp was dedicated to martyrs of the nation and tributes were paid to them.

The event was inaugurated by Dinesh Uniyal, Inspector General, North-West Sector, CRPF, who praised the noble efforts of blood donors and commended the organisers for their commitment to humanitarian service. He also highlighted the CRPF’s invaluable role in safeguarding national security.

Prof Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, chaired the programme and encouraged participants for their contribution to society. Guests of honour included Prof Rati Ram, Head of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER; Prof Suchet Sachdev, Consultant, Transfusion Medicine; and Sunil Dutt, Joint Secretary, Khel Bharti Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anirudh Uniyal, Physiotherapist at PGIMER and founder and national president of NBF Bharat and SAPT India, reaffirmed the organisation’s motto “Rashtra Seva Parmo Dharmah”.

An organ donation awareness camp was also held with support from ROTTO (North). The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, students and staff of PGI.

Physiotherapists focus on healthy ageing

The PGIMER Physiotherapist Association (PPA), in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Chandigarh, celebrated World Physiotherapy Day 2025 with the global theme “Healthy Ageing”. The event underscored the essential role of physiotherapy in promoting mobility, independence and quality of life for ageing populations.

The programme was inaugurated with the ceremonial lamp lighting by Dr Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGI. Dr Monica Chhabra delivered a talk on professional growth through the NCAHP framework.
