Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu distributed bonus cheques among milk producers’ cooperative societies that had secured top three positions in Mohali.

Sidhu said Verka milk dairy played an important role in providing a market to milk producers of Punjab, but it needed to do more to enhance the reach of its products in other states.

The minister said Markfed, Cooperative Banks and Cooperative Milk Producers were major contributors to the economy of Punjab.

Mohan Singh Dummewal, Chairman, Milk Union, Ropar, said since the commencement of cooperative milk work in Punjab, the economic condition of the members of various societies had improved a lot. — TNS
