Senior sports journalist Sukhwinderjit Singh Manauli’s new book, ‘Hockey Olympians’ Family’, was released at the Chandigarh Press Club here on Monday. The book has been launched to mark 50 years since the Indian men’s hockey team won the World Cup.

The release ceremony was attended by Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, 1975 Hockey World Cup team member and Olympic medallist Ashok Dhyan Chand, Olympic medallists Surinder Singh Sodhi and Ajit Singh.

In the book, Manauli has documented almost all families that have produced multiple international hockey players, including Olympians. The book spans from the legendary Major Dhyan Chand to Pakistan’s Olympian Hussain brothers, the Kular families of Canada and Kenya, England’s Olympian Hayward brothers, the Gereban brothers of Australia, New Zealand’s Olympian Child brothers and Olympian spouses from the Netherlands.
