The gangster-turned-politician was brought from Ropar jail and waited for some time in an ambulance bearing a UP registration with police escorting the vehicle. He was taken to the court on the third floor in a wheelchair.

The Supreme Court on March 26 ordered the shifting of Ansari from Ropar jail to a jail in Uttar Pradesh where he was wanted in several criminal cases.

Allowing the state of Uttar Pradesh government’s petition seeking transfer of the alleged gangster, a Bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan had directed that Ansari’s custody should be handed over to UP authorities in two weeks.
