Chandigarh: Carrom team for national championship announced

Shoyab Ansari and Vaidhavi Mamgain will captain the local boys’ and girls’ team, respectively, for the 49th Junior National Carrom Championship to be held at Gwalior. The championship will be organised by the All India Carrom Federation and hosted by the Madhya Pradesh Carrom Association.

The boys’ U-18 squad comprises Shoyab Ansari, Mohammed Alfaiz (Gurukul Global Mani Majra), Abhinav Sharma (GMSSS-16), Anish Kumar, Hamza Khan (St Stephen’s School) and Arnav Bahuguna; U-21 squad has Gopal Kakkar (Panjab University); girls’ U-18 squad has Vaidhavi, Ayesha (St Stephen’s School), Aashia (GMSSS – 45), Shayna Parveen, Mudra (Gurukul Global – Mani Majra); U-21 squad has Sangini Mamgain (PGGCG – 11).

Sanjay Gupta and Jaitun have been appointed as the managers of the teams.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
