Caught ‘cheating’, student hangs self to death

A BBA-I student of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his hostel room this afternoon. He was reportedly upset after being caught cheating in an exam.

Aryan, a native of Kashmir, was allegedly involved in a cheating incident during his second semester exam today, said the police. Aryan had come back to college from home yesterday.

Hostel inmates found his body hanging with a bedsheet from the ceiling fan in his room. His family members said Aryan was mentally disturbed for the past sometime and was under medication. The hostel authorities have informed the kin of the victim.

Meanwhile, the police sent the body to the mortuary of the Kharar hospital.
