The anti-graft probe agency CBI on Tuesday said it has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Harbhajan Singh, who is posted at Sector 34 Police Station in Chandigarh, while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said, “A case has been registered ASI, posted at Police Station, Sector-34, Chandigarh on a complaint alleging that the accused was demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 in lieu of not registering a case against the complainant, an employee of Air Force, in a matter of non-payment of loan amount to a finance company.”

In the complaint Joshi said, it was further alleged that the accused threatened the Air Force employee that there was a complaint lodged by the finance company against him. “The complainant, who is said to be retiring from his service in coming months, allegedly felt threatened that his retirement funds/benefit may be stuck if a case is registered against him,” he said.
