The chargesheet was filed against SIs Sumit Gupta, Pradeep Rana, Ankur Kumar and Aakash Ahlawat for the offences punishable under Sections 120B, 323, 352, 365, 388 and 506 of the IPC. Demanding the money, the officers had allegedly claimed they had information that the company had links with terrorists.

The CBI mentioned a list of 32 witnesses and CCTV footage procured during investigation. In the charge-sheet, the CBI claimed it had registered an FIR against the accused on the complaint of Abhishek Dogra, a resident of Ludhiana, who ran a partnership firm M/s Ocean Global Solutions, located at IT Park, Chandigarh, with partner Sunny Verma and dealing with business-to-consumer and business-to-business services in the IT sector.

On May 10, Dogra along with Verma and other employees was working in his office, when around 11 pm, six persons allegedly arrived and told them they were from the CBI.

Five of them told him they were from the CBI, while the sixth claimed he was an employee of Bank of India.

One of the officers took him to a cabin and showed his ID. He told him there was a complaint from Interpol about his links with terrorists and his firm was also involved in anti-national activities.

He asked him to open the password of his phone so that he could check the phone. Dogra was then threatened with arrest for supporting and providing money to terrorists.

One officer allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore for letting him off the hook. The officer allegedly took him to the parking area (at basement) and forced him to drive his car. They directed him to drive to the Sector 30 CBI office in Chandigarh.

Near Airtel office, IT Park, the officers directed him to drive to his home i.e. Ludhiana. The officer told him to arrange Rs 25 lakh, saying he had time till 10-11 am on May 11 for arranging the money.

They further directed him to drive towards his office at IT Park as their other colleagues were waiting there. He then took a turn to IT Park and on the way one of the car tyres suffered a puncture. While changing the tyre, he called his partner Verma. As Verma and other employees reached his location, there was a scuffle.
