Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla today reviewed the progress of ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme through a video-conference with senior officials of the UT Administration.

The Union Home Secretary appreciated the fact that Chandigarh was the first to introduce the scheme in 2015 and first to prepare all infrastructure arrangements for it. The software for the scheme has been prepared by NIC.

Under the scheme, when a migrant worker arrives in Chandigarh and decides to take ration from here, in such cases, his Aadhaar card and biometric will be verified from his home state and his name will be entered in the list of DBT beneficiaries in Chandigarh. The migrant worker will be able to get his ration subsidy without any hitch. His name will be deleted from the DBT list of his native place. Chandigarh has 2.57 lakh BPL families under the DBT scheme.
