The UT Administration today shortlisted three candidates for the post of Director, Punjab Engineering College (PEC), here.

As many as 36 candidates appeared before the selection committee, which was headed by UT Adviser Dharam Pal. The committee, which comprised the directors of the IITs, Ropar and Roorkee, the Additional Secretary, HRD, and the UT Finance and Education secretaries, selected three candidates on the basis of their merit. The names will be submitted to UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore tomorrow to take a final call on selection of the candidate. The post was lying vacant for the past several months after Prof Dheeraj Sanghi, Director, PEC, had resigned in December last year. Sanghi (54) had joined PEC from the IIT, Kanpur, in January 2019, and his term was to end in January 2024. The Department of Technical Education, UT, had, earlier this year, invited applications for the post of Director, PEC, on a contract basis for a period of five years.
