Chandigarh, June 12

The UT Administration has been urged to issue directions to officials concerned to reduce the GST on Covid-related items.

In a letter to UT Adviser Manoj Parida, Ajay Jagga, member, Rogi Kalyan Samiti, UT, pointed out that the 44th GST Council, which met under the chairmanship of Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today, decided to reduce the GST rates on the specified items being used in Covid-19 relief and management till September 30, 2021.

He requested the Adviser to issue instructions to the GST authorities and the Consumer Affairs Department, UT, to ensure that the benefit of tax reduction is passed on to the consumers positively, else action should be taken.

The price of all the products must be reduced otherwise it will be a serious violation, read the letter.
