Chandigarh Adviser reviews dengue preparedness
UT Adviser Rajeev Verma today reviewed the preparedness for dengue prevention and foster multi-sectoral coordination among various departments. A detailed presentation was given to outlining the activities conducted by the malaria wing for dengue prevention and control.
The presentation highlighted innovations, best practices, the current dengue situation in Chandigarh and neighbouring regions and the expected roles of stakeholders in controlling dengue. A coordination mechanism among stakeholders was also discussed to ensure effective measures were taken to meet the challenges posed by dengue during the current season.
The Adviser directed the malaria wing of the Health Department and the MoH wing of the municipal corporation (MC) to collaborate on field operations and enforce relevant bylaws strictly.
The Director, Health and Family Welfare, emphasised on house-to-house surveys being conducted by health workers to identify and eliminate mosquitogenic sources. The Secretary of Health proposed solutions to address mosquito breeding in permanently locked and vacant houses by coordinating with the house allotment work inspectors in their respective areas.
