Chandigarh Adviser Rajeev Verma stresses corruption-free Admn
Chandigarh, February 7
After assuming charge today, new UT Adviser Rajeev Verma emphasised the importance of a corruption-free administration, particularly in public-dealing departments.
There is a need to implement an effective anti-bribery management system that supports a working culture based on transparency and integrity, he said during a brief interaction with the secretaries and heads of department soon after assuming charge.
Verma also laid stress on aligning the UT Administration with Prime Minister’s Vision 2047, aiming to position Chandigarh as the smartest city in every aspect. He has set ambitious goals, envisioning the city as the first Union Territory to achieve sustainable development goals and secure the top rank for cleanliness nationwide.
In a ceremonial event, the Chandigarh Police extended a Guard of Honour to the newly appointed Adviser, as he joined his duties at the UT Secretariat around 4 pm today. The new Adviser received a warm welcome from officials, including Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary; Praveer Ranjan, DGP, and other senior officials.
Verma, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and other Union Territories) cadre, had been Puducherry’s Chief Secretary since April 2022.
The post fell vacant after the retirement of previous incumbent Dharam Pal on October 31. Verma belongs to Uttar Pradesh. This is his first posting in Chandigarh.
