As the Covid cases increase, the Chandigarh administration on Friday announced weekend lockdown.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore.

The lockdown will be from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday.

Essential services will be allowed and restaurants can do home-delivery.

Weddings will be allowed with only limited number of guests. The deputy commissioner will issue passes in such cases.

Adviser Manoj Parida said the NDA and other exams would not be affected as students could travel carrying their admit cards.

He said the Covid vaccination programme would continue despite the lockdown.

Earlier, Delhi had announced the weekend curfew.
