Chandigarh, August 7

The UT police today conducted a mock drill at Sector 17 to check the preparedness for the forthcoming Independence Day.

Police Control Room received information about a bomb at the Central Treasury office in Sector 17 around 11 am. Various police teams were alerted following which a bomb disposal squad, Operation Cell and cops from the Sector 17 police station reached the spot. A disaster management and medical team also reached the spot.

As a part of the drill, the police teams cordoned the building and evacuated the staff from the building.

Onlookers unaware about the mock drill got curious and gathered at the spot. The police then defused the bomb and completed the drill.
