A good performance by batters helped Chandigarh take a 45-run lead during the second innings against Saurashtra on the third day of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26.

Chasing Saurashtra’s 285, the Chandigarh lads were bundled out at 117 in the first innings. After being put to follow on, the hosts posted 213/8 as Gurtaj Singh Bains and Nishunk Birla led the second innings’ revival for Chandigarh. The duo raised an unbeaten stand of 69 runs to help the side take the lead.

Ranji Trophy matches

The Ranji Trophy match between hosts Chandigarh and Gujarat at the Sector 16 cricket stadium was affected by bad weather on the fourth day and ended in a draw. Earlier, the Chandigarh skipper had won the toss and put Gujarat to bat. The visitors scored 86/2. Meanwhile, at Mohali’s IS Bindra PCA Stadium, the hosts also shared a point with Tripura, as the first innings could not be completed due to poor weather. In reply to Punjab’s 109, the Tripura batters were playing 51/2, when the match ended.
