The city today recorded 86 fresh cases of Covid-19, taking the tally to 1,928. One more death due to coronavirus was also reported from the city.

A 20-year-old man from Sector 47 with a history of paraplegia (spinal cord injury) suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on August 11. He was sampled for Covid-19 after death and his report came out positive.

The fresh cases have been reported from Sectors 44, 40, 48, 37, 42, 38, 38 (West), 8, 45, 47, 32, 45, 43, 33, 46, 63, 44, 35, 27, 29, 24, 37, 55, 42, 41, 37, 36, 56, 25, 47, 24, 15, 21, 26 and 49, PGI, Khuda Jassu, Kishangarh, Dadu Majra, Ram Darbar, Burail, Khuda Ali Sher, Mani Majra, Mauli Jagran, Kishangarh and Kajheri.

Meanwhile, 15 patients were discharged after being cured. The total number of active cases in the city is 807, while 1,091 patients have been cured till date. The death toll in the city has risen to 28.

Councillor tests positive

MC Councillor Dalip Sharma tested positive for coronavirus. Sharma, a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, was suffering from fever and had low platelet count. The BJP leader got himself tested at a private lab and was found to be positive. Meanwhile, wife of Chandigarh BJP president Arun Soon tested negative.
