Chandigarh Mayor inspects Ward Number 1, tells officials to act on civic issues

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla conducted an extensive inspection of Ward Number 1, accompanied by local area councillor Jaswinder Kaur and officers of various wings of the Municipal Corporation, including Horticulture, Road Division, Public Health, Electrical, and the Sanitation Department.

Babla met the residents, who took the opportunity to share their concerns regarding various civic issues, such as sewerage problems, road maintenance, park cleanliness, and waste processing.

Taking note of the grievances, the Mayor directed all department officials to address the issues with urgency and ensure timely resolution. She emphasised the importance of responsibility and efficiency in executing development and maintenance works for the betterment of the residents.

The Mayor reaffirmed her commitment to improving civic amenities and assured the citizens that the civic body would take swift action to resolve their concerns. She urged officials to work diligently and uphold the highest standards of service to enhance the quality of life in the city.

Joshi reviews ongoing projects in Sector-15

In an effort to address the grievances of residents and shopkeepers, Ward No. 12 councillor Saurabh Joshi visited, along with MC officials, and inspect ongoing and stalled projects in Sector 15.

The visit aimed to assess the ground reality and the difficulties faced by the public due to delayed development work.

During the inspection, Superintending Engineer (B&R) Dharmender Sharma acknowledged the poor state of infrastructure, particularly in the market area. He assured Joshi that the much-needed maintenance work—including repairs of market pathways, broken railings, and other deteriorating infrastructure from Patel Market to Bay-Shops, SCOs, and Booths—would commence within a week.

Additionally, it was highlighted that the commercial sewer line work completed two years ago had left the roads in a damaged state.

Another point of concern raised during the visit was the stalled Zero Waste Food Street project, originally set to be dedicated to the public in August 2022,

Joshi urged the civic body officials to take immediate action to resolve these issues and ensure that pending projects are completed without further delay.
