The Municipal Corporation has floated a Rs 50-lakh tender for repair of the roads damaged in the recent rain spell.

The first rain of the monsoon caused extensive damage to roads at many places. A major portion of the road from Dadumajra to Maloya and Sector 47/48 had caved in during the rain. A similar damage was also reported on the Sector 14/ 15 road and Sector 31/47 roundabout. A survey carried out by the MC revealed the roads were badly damaged at 15 places.

The roads in Manimajra and villages also developed big potholes.

A city resident, RK Garg, said the amount of Rs 50 lakh is too less to repair roads properly. As no quality repairs are possible with this amount, the allocation is nothing but a waste of money, he said.
