Chandigarh: A man has been arrested for snatching a purse containing ~700 and documents. Avdesh Kumar, a resident of Kaimbwala village, reported that Shubham snatched his purse on the Sector 20/21 road. A case was registered at the Sector 19 police station and the accused arrested. TNS

AOC-in-C on 3-day visit to 3 BRD
Chandigarh: Air Marshal Vijay Kumar Garg, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, arrived at the No. 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD) here on Thursday. He is on a three-day visit to review the ongoing maintenance activities and indigenisation projects. On his arrival, he was accorded a guard of honour and briefed on various technical and administrative aspects pertaining to the depot by Air Commodore Rajeev Shrivastava, Air Officer Commanding, 3BRD. PU centre gets ~4.84 cr grant
Chandigarh: The Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Facility (SAIF) at Panjab University has been awarded a grant of Rs 4.84 crore by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. The funding will enable the acquisition of a state-of-the-art atomic force microscope and Raman spectrometer, further enhancing the facility’s capacity to support cutting-edge scientific research and innovation. The AFM will offer high-resolution imaging and mechanical property mapping, while the Raman spectrometer will provide exceptional spatial resolution for studying molecular-level phenomena. These instruments are crucial for developing new materials, catalysts and drug delivery systems. TNS
