Chandigarh picks rugby team

The local team will be playing under coach Balpreet Singh

The Chandigarh Rugby Football Association (CRFA) selected local teams for participating in the Senior National Rugby Sevens Championships, set to be played at Guwahati, Assam, between April 23 and 28.

The local teams will be playing under coach, Balpreet Singh. The women’s nationals will be held at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai Sports Complex, Guwahati, from April 23 to 24.

They will be competing in the Pool E along with Delhi and Puducherry. The team will play their first league match against Delhi on April 23, followed by their second match on the same day.

To promote the game and the players, Ranjan Sethi President, CRFA, and Manpreet Kaur Seemar, general secretary, CRFA, awarded Rs 1.8 lakh to the participating players.

Recently, the local association had organised the Senior National Rugby Sevens Championships 2025 Inter-District (State Level) Competitions for Senior Men and Women. Meanwhile, The Senior National Rugby 7s Championships 2025 will be supported by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Assam, and hosted in association with Rugby Association of Assam
