“A message, ‘Dear customer, your electricity will be disconnected tonight at 9.30 pm because your previous month bill is not updated’, is being sent on mobile phones of consumers and they are being given two numbers (8260648926, 9064820457) to contact with electricity officer. It is informed that the said mobile numbers are fake and are not related to any officer of the electricity wing,” the department stated in the public notice.

“People are advised not to take cognisance of such a message so as to avoid any financial loss. In case of any grievance regarding electricity bill, the subdivision office concerned, as mentioned in the electricity bill, may be contacted,” added the notice.
