Chandigarh, June 10

Chandigarh on Thursday registered 66 cases, taking its infection tally to 60,928, according to a medical bulletin.

Six more people succumbed to Covid, taking the death toll to 783 in the union territory.

The number of active cases dropped to 685 from 740 a day before, the bulletin said.

A total of 5,33,043 samples have been taken for testing so far, of which 4,70,876 tested negative while reports of 14 are awaited.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
