Chandigarh reported a whopping 541 cases on Monday, a health bulletin said on Saturday—the highest cases reported in the city since last summer when the delta variant led to a substantial rise in both cases and deaths.

Chandigarh’s active cases have shot up to 1,794—a rise of 169 per cent since Wednesday.  

Chandigarh’s added 1,262 cases in the last three days alone.  The city’s positivity rate stood at 13.9 per cent.  

Weekly positivity rate has shot up to 12.07 per cent—almost twice the 6.40 per cent reported on Wednesday.

Despite the rising cases, however, the fatality count appears to remain low—Chandigarh’s recorded no new deaths on Saturday for the second consecutive day.
