A 74-year-old man from Sector 24 died at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, becoming Chandigarh’s 31st fatality to the virus. A medical bulletin issued by the Chandigarh administration said that he died of refractory septic shock caused as a result of acute respiratory distress syndrome—a disease that is frequently seen in severe cases of COVID-19.

About 42 per cent of the union territory’s cases are still active.

Meanwhile, the bulletin also showed that 108 people were released from various hospitals and home isolation after making full recovery on Wednesday
